Let’s chat Surgery and Aroma Freedom Technique and Oils.

I found out a couple of weeks ago that I had a Sesamoid Bone/Bone Spur in my foot at the base of my second metatarsal. A Sesamoid is basically an independent bone that is developed in a tendon. Where my Sesamoid was located any time I bent my toes I would get excruciating pain up my leg and lemme tell you, you bend your toes a hell of a lot more than you could even imagine (think sitting on the potty, reaching for a tall shelf, and even wearing certain shoes aka flip flops). I made my first appointment with my amazing podiatrist and she thought I had fractured my foot so she sent me in for X-rays. Then she got the results of those... #NotBroken ... BUT I had a bone with a spur that didn’t belong and the only way to rectify this situation was to remove the bone... surgically.

Insert fear, anxiety, unknown, hesitation.

So, what did I do? I was attending my weekly mentoring session where I was walked us through an AFT Clearing.

I guess before I go any further I should explain what AFT is. The Aroma Freedom Technique (AFT) uses the power of scent to gently shift awareness away from negative thoughts, feelings, and memories, and to initiate a positive outlook and attitude. This results in greater confidence and inner freedom. When we are no longer stuck in negative mindsets, we are free to create the life we desire.

So. The first step in AFT is to create a goal or intention: mine was “I will fearlessly go into surgery trusting the process. “

I worked this thought through the process and then came the waiting on surgery day.

Typically leading up to surgery I am not very pleasant... the emotions get the best of me. I had one surgery where I didn’t know how sick I was until it was over (I was told I could have died). I had another surgery when I woke up on the table and I heard the doctor say, “Oh F*** she’s awake put her back to sleep.” So hopefully you see where my fears and hesitations come from.

But this time was different. I was calm. I was collected. I was not afraid. Sitting in the waiting room I was fearless. Walking back to the prep area I felt comfort and safety. My normal self who is typically petrified at the thought of surgery was joking around having a good time. Then Jeff came back to wait with me in pre-op and he said he couldn’t believe how calm and collected I was and that is when it clicked. AFT set me free... again.

I decided then and there I have to share this with EVERYONE!!!!

Then the doc came in and marked my foot, the anesthesiologist came in and met with me. Still no nerves.

The nurse came in to take me back to the operating room. I hopped up, kissed Jeff, grabbed my IV bags and walked confidently to the OR, climbed up on the table, got situated and asked for my sleepy juice.

I woke up an hour or so later... in recovery feeling amazing (mentally and emotionally) with a numb foot ~ craving nothing but the amazing hospital ice chips 🤣🤣

Then the doctor made her post surgical round on me to get me released and she said that I was more nervous the day in her office when she proposed surgery (before AFT) than I was while I was actually in the surgical ward.

It is amazing the power of AFT and Young Living Essential Oils.
